I lived in Bytham until 1953, my father was a signalman at Bytham Box. My mother taught at Careby school for a while. I wonder if anyone remembers me? I always look back at Little Bytham with nostalgia as we were so happy there. I visit a couple of times a year, usually to the Willoughby arms for a meal and although much changed it still feels the same.

Welcome to our new guest book. Which has taken me a good number of hours, to get on-line.

You may be pleased to see, that I have got all the old entry's back on-line, dating all the way back to March 2001, when this website. Got it's very first guest book.

So I hope, that you all make the use of this new guest book.

When you post a new message, it may take a while, to added. Since I have to give approval, before they go live. This will stop, all the SPAM. That use to get posted on the old guest book.

I have received a request for information:

Thank you for the offer of help with tracking my fatherís origins. That is very nice of you.

Dad did not talk much about his family, so I do not know much. I remember going to Castle Bytham at about age 11 to look in the churchyard for Judsons.

Dad died in 1989 aged 79. His sister Rhoda, died before him, probably about 1982. She was about 4 years older than him. There was also another daughter called Lucy who died when she was only about 3 years old. I only found out about her when we told dad we were calling our youngest daughter ĎLucyí. I think my father had only one cousin called Harold Judson.

Both of dadís parents died in the 40ís. I think they were alive when my brother was born in í44, but had died when I was born in Ď48. I believe his father had a stroke and his mother had a cancer which people did not talk about in those days (probably uterine). I understand they were both fairly young, in their fifties perhaps. I know dadís father was an insurance salesman. As a family they lived in Coalville, Derbyshire.

I just phoned my mother who is 88 but still all there. She thinks that dadís father came from CB, but that he was living in Coalville when dad was born. She does not remember whether we found any Judsons in the churchyard! I should have asked her what dadís parentsí Christian names were Ė silly me. I will next time I speak to her if that would be of interest to your mother-in-law.

If you had time to look round the churchyard and found a Judson grave I would love a photo of it.

Kind regards to you and your mother-in-law (perhaps she is a relative!)

Lindy.

Castle Bytham looks lovely! I'm interested in information on my childen's g-g-g-grandfather, Richard Coverley, born 1852 and his parents, John and Jane. Coverleys go back in the village for several hundred years. I wonder if there are any left there? I'd be pleased to hear from anyone. Hope to visit one day!
