: little bytham : walk 2 : grange farm
added
30/11/03
This walk makes use of a newly created permissive footpath (thanks
John!) and an existing public footpath to create a pleasant walk to
the south of Little Bytham through an organic dairy farm. The route
initally follows the West Glen River, offers the opportunity to walk
across open fields and a section of disused railway and then emerges
on the road into the village opposite the Willoughby
Arms.
The walk has been made possible by the Department
for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) working with a
local landowner to create a Conservation Walk under the Countryside
Stewardship Scheme. The scheme helps farmers and land managers
to protect and improve the countryside, its wildlife and history.
Grass margins, hedges and pasture are being managed along the route
under the Countryside
Stewardship Scheme to benefit wildlife.
