groups, clubs and societies : womens institute : monthly report : february 2003

The December meeting was out 57th Birthday and Christmas Party and an excellent meal was served at the Willoughby Arms. The atmosphere was very convivial and festive and members rounded off an excellent evening by receiving a present donated by another member, to the value of £2. It was amazing to see the variety of lovely gifts imaginatively chosen and presented. The excitement and surprise when discovering what was in the package showed that the spirit of Christmas was alive with we more mature ladies!

The January meeting had to be cancelled due to the snow and icy conditions. It has been suggested that, in future, the January meeting be omitted as it is too close to Christmas and New Year festivities and the weather can be so unpredictable for travelling speakers (and more mature ladies?)

However the February meeting is a MUST for members, friends and visitors to hear the popular, excellent historian Jean Townsend talk about the Windsors - popular with TV at the moment too.
