places : castle bytham quarry : pictures from the past

added 02/10/03

The following images have been captured from documents loaned to theBythams website by Nigel Allsopp of Castle Bytham.

Nigel holds the originals and is willing to allow interested parties to have access to them for whatever reason on request (and of course with reasonable notice!)

Nigel can be contacted by email at the following address allsoppn@aol.com

We hold digital copies of the documents as shown on the website here and also in enhanced resolution.

Contact Us if you would like to receive copies of them electronically.

The first image shows the men that worked in the quarry in, it is believed, the 1940's or 1950's. The names of many of the work men are known and have been included. Can you identify any of those so far unidentified or do you know someone who may be able to?

The next four images are taken from promotional literature reprinted from "The Country House and Estate" (magazine?) published in March /April 1926. The document is a two fold leaflet, A4 in size with the fold along its shortest edge.

The final image is a picture of the lime kilns taken during their working life, date and persons unknown.

Do you have, or do you know someone that has, other historical documents or pictures relating to theBythams area which we could include images of on this website?

Doing this preserves documents for posterity, which may subsequently be lost or damaged, and also makes them available to a wider audience.

Contact Us if you think you might have anything of interest.
